Perth, Australia – May 15, 2024 – At today's press conference held by the National President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), Mr. Adnan Qadir, speaking from Perth's Nasir Mosque reiterated the organisation's stance against calls to remove prayer rooms from schools across the country.

Mr. Qadir expressed concern about such reactionary steps which will only prove to be counterproductive. "The motto that our youth association adheres to is 'Love for All, Hatred for None' and we firmly believe that accelerating our efforts of education and dialogue are the most effective tools in combating any extremist views that people may be prone to harbouring" stated Mr. Qadir.

In response to reported concerns raised by some parents regarding students being shown fundamentalist videos, Mr. Qadir highlighted "We must not let fear dictate our actions but instead focus on constructive measures to address concerns."

One of the initiatives Mr Qadir launched during this visit is a proposal to be sent to all high schools, advocating for Q&A sessions with visiting imams to high schools or high schools student's excursion trips to Perth's largest Nasir Mosque. These sessions will allow students to clear up any misconceptions about Islam and to learn about Muslims's beliefs first-hand from an Imam.

Mr Qadir highlighted how AMYA is at the forefront of various welfare and charitable projects most notably Australia clean up day, charity walks across various states, blood donation drives, active participation in National tree plantation, and feeding the homeless amongst many others. "Through this, we cultivate in our youth the value of service to humanity as a primary responsibility that is obligation on a Muslim", Mr Qadir added.
