CIMIC's UGL awarded extension to operate passenger trains in Melbourne

The Victorian State Government has extended the contract with the Metro Trains Melbourne consortium (MTM) to operate Melbourne’s metropolitan passenger rail services for a further 18 months.

UGL is part of the MTM consortium, which has been operating passenger trains in metropolitan Melbourne since 2009.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “Metro Trains Melbourne provides an essential component of Melbourne’s integrated public transport service. We are proud to be a trusted partner to the State Government in delivering this safe and reliable network.”

UGL Managing Director Doug Moss said: “MTM provides a critical service for residents and visitors in Melbourne, with a firm focus on delivering an exceptional passenger experience. We’re pleased to extend our relationship with the Victorian Government through the MTM consortium and we look forward to MTM’s ongoing success.”
