The Victorian State Government has extended the contract with the Metro Trains Melbourne consortium (MTM) to operate Melbourne’s metropolitan passenger rail services for a further 18 months.
UGL is part of the MTM consortium, which has been operating passenger trains in metropolitan Melbourne since 2009.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “Metro Trains Melbourne provides an essential component of Melbourne’s integrated public transport service. We are proud to be a trusted partner to the State Government in delivering this safe and reliable network.”
UGL Managing Director Doug Moss said: “MTM provides a critical service for residents and visitors in Melbourne, with a firm focus on delivering an exceptional passenger experience. MTM operates 239 six carriage trains across 998 kilometres of track, transporting 541,0001 customers each weekday.
