Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) 3 mins read

The Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) is excited to announce its highly anticipated annual conference, set to take place at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, from 12 to 14 June 2024. This premier event promises two and a half days of cutting-edge learning and development (L&D) exploration, knowledge sharing, and unparalleled networking opportunities.

The AITD conference is a must-attend event for L&D professionals for a reason. It features a broad selection of leading national and international speakers, including the thought leader of the year, Dr Britt Andreatta who will delve into the neuroscience of learning. Renowned industry expert Thomas Tobin from the University of Wisconsin-Madison will discuss how to lower training and development barriers with universal design for learning. Lisa Bale from the Future Skills Organisation will speak about VET and digital capability.

AITD’s CEO, Ben Campbell, emphasised the enhanced experience for this year’s conference. “Our community has provided important insights into the speakers they want to see, and we are delighted to welcome so many top practitioners to this year’s conference. We’ve expanded our networking opportunities, round table seating, included more interactive sessions, and invited an extraordinary lineup of speakers who will focus on a diverse range of topics.”

“AITD is committed to providing our attendees with the tools and knowledge they need to drive impactful L&D initiatives in their organisations,” Ben said.

Highlights of the 2024 AITD Conference will include:

  • Inspirational Speakers: The conference will showcase an exceptional line-up of industry experts, including: Charles Jennings, an expert on building and implementing learning and organisational performance strategies; Wendy Perry, managing director of Workforce BluePrint; Ian Handley, Vice President of Oceania at WithYouWithMe; Dr Ryan Gifford, training systems officer at the Royal Australian Navy; and Sarah-Louise Herring, regional head of learning and development, Asia Pacific for Moet Hennessy.
  • Pre-Conference Workshop: Attendees can kickstart their experience with a pre-conference workshop on Wednesday 12 June. This session will feature case studies from AITD Excellence Awards winners, providing practical insights for implementation in attendees’ own organisations. The workshop will be followed by a networking function at the iconic Adelaide Oval, hosted by the AITD’s South Australia division.
  • Engaging Sessions: Thursday and Friday will be action-packed with sessions designed to uplift, refresh, and strengthen your journey in L&D for the coming year. The extended networking sessions, round table seating, and diverse range of topics will ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

New Approach To International Education Inconsistent And Lacks Integrity

The Australian Government’s newly announced policy approach for the international education sector is causing significant frustration and uncertainty for members of the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA). ITECA is the peak body representing independent skills training, higher education, and international education providers. The approach, framed as a legal exercise under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), follows Parliament’s failure to pass amendments to the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (Cth) after four days of public hearings through a Senate Committee that also included more than 260 submissions where the adverse outcomes of Australian Government policy were laid bare…
