Dedicated VMR Volunteer Donates Boat for Auction Fundraising

Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers 2 mins read

A former member and his wife, supporters of Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport, have given their prized possession, a 2006 Regal Cruiser, to the organisation, to assist in raising funds to keep the operation afloat.

This vessel is now going up for auction with Lloyds Auctions this Wednesday.

Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport is based on the Spit at Main Beach, and the members who volunteer their time to this cause are a passionate group, who provide a rapid response to any emergency in the marine environment, offering peace of mind to those on the water in the Gold Coast region.

The Cruiser needed some engine repairs, and since being donated to VMR has had over $15,000 of repair work and upgrades completed, including exterior detailing, servicing and more.

To sell the vessel, VMR reached out to their database of members, asking for offers on the boat, in the hope that the members’ wish could be met.

This was when local auction company Lloyds Auctions heard about the story.

They immediately reached out to VMR to offer to auction this vessel for no commission, to also support the great work of the Squadron.

Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions said, “Lloyds were touched to hear this story of that dedicated member and his wife, so we reached out to VMR Southport immediately, to offer our auction services, and all funds raised from the sale of the boat will go directly to VMR,”

“The VMR relies on limited government funding, donations, and memberships from local communities to continue to operate, and to protect mariners on our waters, so the funds raised from this auction are sure to help the organisation to continue to provide their vital service,” continued Mr. Hames.

The vessel is going under the hammer on Wednesday 22nd May from 2pm, with all funds going directly to the VMR.
