Scenic Rim Eat Local Month kicks off THIS weekend!

Create your signature sip, experience a long lunch in a vineyard or high tea on a mountaintop, learn regenerative farming secrets,

go behind the barrels at an award-winning winery, taste hyper-local Amero at a newly opened bar and attend a first ever mountain market day!

Stunning mountain-scapes and World Heritage-listed Gondwana rainforests will provide the backdrop for magnificent flavour and farming adventures THIS weekend as Scenic Rim Eat Local Month begins with a focus on Tamborine Mountain, Canungra and Beechmont!

On Saturday 1 June, discover the secrets of sustainable organic farming at the Forgotten Sound Farm at the base of Tamborine Mountain. A newcomer to Eat Local Month, this 1/3 acre market garden owned by Jaimi Pennell focuses on regenerative farming, permaculture and traditional, small batch organic farming. She is also supplying to the North Stores Eat Local Market, Growers and Makers Day on Sunday June 2.

Then it’s time to head for the heavens - up the mountain to sip, stroll and taste the flavours for which the region is so famous.

Also new to Eat Local Month and the world, is The Loborn Tasting Bar!! Officially opening their doors on Saturday, Loborn distils the liqueur Amaro (yep, think Campari!) from only Australian and local botanicals. The name is a celebration of the Eat Local mantra, coming from LOcally BOrn!

Learn all about the ancient drop of Amaro at Saturday’s Tasting Session, and at the North Stores Eat Local Market, Growers and Makers Day on Sunday and whenever you are next on the mountain!

From the newest distiller on the mountain, to one of the oldest and also Australia’s most awarded in the Tamborine Mountain Distillery. Create your own signature spirit at one of the weekend classes and stay to soak up the very unique atmosphere and sign up for more classes throughout the month.

Also on Saturday at nearby at Canungra, My Country Escape has A Taste of Country event with the chance to chat with leading local producers. Then as the first day of Eat Local Month's focus weekend draws to a close, The Paddock Sunset Banquet at the stunning Beechmont Estate provides an opportunity to eat and sip while watching the sunset.

As a true foodie and farming fan never rests (!), 9am on Sunday 2 June is when the North Stores Eat Local Market, Growers and Makers Day begins, offering the freshest local and seasonal produce from the Tamborine Cheese Shop, Embers Wood Fire Dining creating seasonal flavoured dishes, the authentic French bakery Franquette and those already noted. It’s a perfect pairing with breakfast at Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Brenda Fawdon’s Picnic Real Food Bar, and the first 50 attendees will receive a free signed  copy of Brenda’s famed Eat Local Vol 2 cookbook!

At O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards, The Longest Lunch will be served overlooking Canungra Creek while at Beechmont Estate there will be an afternoon of culinary delights, music and lawn games with High Tea in the Fields.

Wine lovers are in for a treat as multi-award-winning winery Witches Falls has a range of great events, including their Behind the Barrels sessions, which go backstage into the world of winemaking!

There’s also Tacos and Tipples over a relaxed Sunday afternoon of live music, wine, beer and cider with tacos prepared by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Josue Lopez and The Cauldron Distillery (famous for it’s gin) is celebrating its THIRD BIRTHDAY!
