Community turns out in force to support people impacted by dementia

Dementia Australia 2 mins read

Thank you to the Gold Coast community members who turned up in force to the 2024 Memory Walk & Jog, showing their support for Australians living with dementia.

More than 730 people walked, ran and jogged on Sunday 2 June raising an impressive total of $110,000!

Dementia Australia CEO Professor Tanya Buchanan extended her gratitude to all who participated, raised funds, spread the word and donated.

“There was an outstanding show of support from the Gold Coast community who turned out in such large numbers for another year. So many people impacted by dementia find these events a great way to connect with others in similar circumstances. It is such an important day, and your support means the world,” Professor Buchanan said.

Professor Buchanan also acknowledged everyone who volunteered at the Gold Coast Memory Walk & Jog.

“It is only through the hard work of our wonderful volunteers that the success of this event is possible.”

The Gold Coast event is one of the 22 scheduled Memory Walk & Jogs taking place across Australia in 2024. Details on the remaining events in the series can be found at www.memorywalk.com.au

Dementia Australia is encouraging anyone unable to participate at one of our 22 events to consider organising their own group or individual walk or jog, with a MyWay event. More details can be found at www.memorywalk.com.au/get-involved/mw.

Walk or jog with us. We are in this together.
