ABOUT MOUNT ISA MINES RODEO

In 1959, a group of people with passion and an intrinsic sense of potential formed the Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo Inc (MIRRI). Their vision was to put the new, remote town of Mount Isa on the map and raise funds for charity organisations in the new city. Through 65 years of whip-cracking vision and dedication, the event has evolved into legendary status. The event is part of the Australian Professional Rodeo Association’s (APRA’s) national circuit. The event is supported by the Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland and is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The rodeo schedule includes the Bull Ride (Open, Over 40s, 2nd & Junior Division), Saddle Bronc (Open & 2nd Division), Bareback (Open & 2nd Division), Rope & Tie (Open), Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Race, Ladies Breakaway Roping and Mini Bull Rides.

RODEO ROCK CONCERT PROGRAM:

RODEO ROCK brings the country music soundtrack to the Mount Isa Rodeo Festival  with THREE FULL nights of music in Queensland Australian outback.

THURSDAY AUGUST 8 – Mount Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo Championships

Kasey Chambers (headliner)

Music seems to be a part of Kasey Chambers DNA, with 12 award-winning albums under her belt since the release of “The Captain” in 1999. Kasey’s brilliant song-writing and world-class performance have earned her a rightful position on the global country artist stage. Often described as a genre-defying singer and songwriter, she wears the honesty of country music on her sleeve, and has become one of the most popular and acclaimed artists of her generation in Australia. In 2018 Kasey’s exceptional career was honoured by being the youngest female ever to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, and the youngest inductee to the Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown.

Christine Anu

One of Australia’s most popular recording artists and performers of all time, Christine Anu uses her voice and reputation to spread a message of unity and hope. With 17 ARIA nominations, including the APRA AMCOS award-winning, “My Island Home”, and her platinum album “Stylin’ Up”, Christine has one of the country’s most enduring and recognisable voices. A proud Torres Strait Islander woman, she uses her public profile as a platform to advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and others from marginalised backgrounds. Christine Anu’s eagerly awaited album, “Waku”, is a collaborative masterpiece produced by long-time musical ally, David Bridie.

FRIDAY AUGUST 9 – Mount Isa Mines Rodeo

Brad Cox (headliner)

Brad has carved a remarkable path in the music scene, captivating audiences with his authentic spirit and down-to-earth persona. With a series of chart-topping albums and hit singles, the beloved Aussie singer-songwriter has solidified his place as one of the most celebrated musicians in the country. In 2023, his third studio album “Acres” reached #1 on ARIA Country Charts and #7 on ARIA Album Chart, and was awarded the Golden Guitar for Top Selling Country Album of the Year. The album stands as a testament to his versatility, navigating thematically from earthy, country pop to heartfelt piano-led ballads, and anthemic party songs.

The Hindley Street Country Club

From humble beginnings, with just their friends and family supporting their shows, The Hindley Street Country Club now generates a global audience of more than one million fans, including 880,000 YouTube subscribers and over 270,000 followers across social media. Their growth has come from one of the most powerful and authentic marketing tools available: word of mouth. The Hindley Street Country Club are a sight to see, with live audiences jumping at the chance to see them, with repeat sold-out shows in every major city across Australia.

SATURDAY AUGUST 10 – Mount Isa Mines Rodeo

James Johnston (headliner)

In just three years, James has achieved phenomenal success with boot-stomping songs about life in the country. He’s “the man of the people” and an artist quickly on his way to achieving global success. Off the back of an enormously successful 2023, where James released his history-making 20-track debut album, "Raised Like That," and staged a sell-out five-city Australian regional tour, he became the most in-demand streamed Australian-based country music artist. With driving guitar riffs and his signature deep, gravelly, soulful voice, James tells stories of the country, lamenting in both its joys and hardships. His undeniable talent and high-energy live show, paired with his hardworking and humble attitude, has declared him the one to watch coming out of Australia. “As the father of two boys, I want my concert to be for all country music lovers, regardless of age or where you come from. This show is for everyone to come and sing their hearts out and just have a damn good time,” James says.

Zac & George

Meet Zac & George, two best mates from school who are on a mission to bring their country-inspired harmonies to the world stage. The boys, who share an unwavering dream of becoming international artists, offer a blend of down-to-earth charm and a mischievous sense of humour. With each song capturing life's experiences and heartfelt emotions, wrapped up in thought-provoking melodies and lyrics, the boys bring a big energy and excitement to every stage they perform on. Their journey to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable, with three top 10 Australian singles, millions of online streams, sold-out headline shows, and an ever-expanding social media presence.
