MEDIA ALERT: Fire, Health and Climate Experts call out Duttons nuclear scheme, say communities will pay the price

Climate Council < 1 mins read

All Australians and every Sydney-sider should be extremely concerned about the Federal Opposition's scheme for nuclear power, even though the city isn’t a potential site for a power plant.

Today at 9.30am, experts will explain how the true cost of nuclear power will be more delays to climate action, more climate pollution and more unnatural disasters for Sydney, NSW and Australian communities at large.

Greg Mullins, founder of Emergency Leaders for Climate Action, will speak to the dangers of continuing to burn coal, oil and gas, while communities are forced to wait for a false climate solution. He’ll highlight the regions most affected by climate-fuelled floods, fires, and catastrophic storms in recent years, drawn from a new Emergency Leaders for Climate Action report.

What: Press conference

Where: Steps of NSW parliament

Time: 10:30am, Thursday 20th June

Talent:

  • Greg Mullins, Former Commissioner of Fire & Rescue New South Wales, firefighter with more than 50 years’ experience and internationally recognised fire response expert.
