People’s Commission into the Housing Crisis 

The final day of hearings for Australia’s first People’s Commission into the Housing Crisis, convened by Everybody’s Home, will be held on Tuesday, 25 June.

The online hearings will address:

  • Housing and First Nations communities

  • Impacts on regional and remote communities

  • Climate safe housing

  • Recommendations for government action

WHO: 

  • Commissioner Doug Cameron (former Labor Senator for NSW) 

  • Commissioner Prof Nicole Gurran (University of Sydney housing expert)

  • Members of the public sharing their stories of housing stress and instability

  • Economists and housing experts

  • Everybody’s Home spokesperson Maiy Azize

The Australian Conservation Foundation has welcomed news the Murujuga rock art on WA’s Burrup Peninsula has been added to the World Heritage list and called on Environment Minister Murray Watt to safeguard the site’s outstanding values by rejecting Woodside’s application to extend its North West Shelf gas export hub to 2070. Overnight, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee added Murujuga to the World Heritage list – without imposing previously recommended conditions that Australia end industrial emissions on the Burrup Peninsula to protect the rock art. Friday 11 July 2025 Murujuga, the world’s largest rock art site located on the Burrup Peninsula in West Australia, has officially been confirmed as a Cultural World Heritage Site at the 47th World Heritage Committee (WHC) at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
