Melbourne Demons are playing with a special purpose in Saturday night’s Pink Lady Match – their warm-up tops will carry the names of women and men affected by breast cancer. Players received personalised letters from survivors, those in active treatment as well as from families who have lost a loved one.  Behind the names are stories of resilience, connection, and support – as it is for the 20,000 Australians diagnosed every year. Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) advocates, informs, and supports all of them.

Toni Hilland, winner of the Amazing Race Australia 2022, who has metastatic (treatable but life-limiting) breast cancer is one of the 43 names represented; the match ball will be delivered by the widow and young children of Paul Hughes, who died from breast cancer 8 weeks ago.

In 2024, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and the Melbourne Football Club will celebrate 20 years of partnership.
