Hundreds of Electrical Trades Union members and activists will rally outside Transgrid's Ultimo headquarters on Monday morning to protest the company’s appalling approach to wage bargaining.
Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, the company's latest offer fails the test of decency. Workers have suffered real wage cuts of 8% since 2016. They receive lower pay compared to counterparts in Queensland and Victoria.
ETU NSW Secretary Allen Hicks said: "Transgrid workers have been bargaining for a decent pay rise for more than nine months as they grapple with the worst cost of living crisis in living memory. Rather than treat them with respect and dignity Transgrid has responded with legal trickery to try and terminate legitimate and legal industrial action. Our members deserve fair pay. Transgrid’s stinginess means they get walloped every time they are at the supermarket checkout or petrol bowser."
