Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been selected to support Greater Shepparton City Council’s (GSCC’s) transition from a CAPEX model to a fully managed service over the next four years.

The new agreement will see GSCC replace its traditional CAPEX model and its challenges, including unpredictable costs and high OPEX charges, to a recurring service solution where Schneider Electric oversees the assets in place over their lifecycle.

By implementing a fully managed, digitally enabled, and tailored solution, GSCC will move to a predictable, cost-efficient solution overseen by a dedicated Schneider Electric customer success manager. The role of the customer success manager is to advise, monitor, and solve future issues before they arise; saving costs and power supply interruptions that may impact day-to-day operations.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is essential to GSCC’s operations to ensure the Council’s services have access to continuous power to operate, despite outages, power surges, or other possible interruptions. Through the partnership, the operational responsibility of maintaining and overseeing these assets will be assumed by Schneider Electric, giving GSCC access to the expertise of a leading global manufacturer.

This will enable the GSCC to free up its employees’ time to focus on core business outcomes that ultimately serve residents and other stakeholders of the Council. In addition, with a more reliable flow of energy to critical assets, GSCC can provide better access to services.

“Thanks to this partnership with Schneider Electric, we can prioritise activities and resources to help Council thrive – which will ultimately help us focus on moving the needle for our wider community,” said Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Corporate Services, Chris Teitzel.

“We are excited to work with Greater Shepparton City Council and offer a modern approach to maintaining infrastructure and systems, without worrying about capital expenditure and power supply disruptions. This new partnership demonstrates Schneider Electric’s commitment to building innovative solutions to help customers meet their business goals for sustainability and efficiency,” added Vice President Power Systems and Services James Hunt, from Schneider Electric

While the as-a-service model is becoming increasingly common globally, Secure Power as a Service is a unique and tailored offering from Schneider Electric, and GSCC is leading the way for local government adoption.

Nature and climate advocates unite behind plan for a renewable future

As the climate crisis escalates, conservationists, nature and climate advocates have united behind a plan for Australia to be 100% powered by renewables that are good for nature. The joint report by the Australian Conservation Foundation and WWF-Australia charts a path for renewable energy and nature to work in harmony, and insists that renewable energy projects be built away from high conservation value areas. The report, Our Renewable Future – a Plan for People and Nature, calls for all levels of government, industry and community to work together to support an energy transition that is good for nature and people.…

Rewiring Australia welcomes Labor’s election promise to subsidise more home batteries

Rewiring Australia welcomes Labor’s election promise to subsidise more home batteries Rewiring Australia has welcomed the Labor government’s evidence-based proposal to get more batteries into Australian homes, creating far cheaper and cleaner energy. The federal government has made a pledge to subsidise the cost of installing home batteries which Rewiring Australia has long been campaigning for. If elected, Labor would reduce the cost of installation by 30%. The $2.3 billion pledge is expected to see one million new batteries installed in Australian homes by 2030, and would come into effect from July this year. “Bills are high and getting higher,…

EXPERTS & CASE STUDIES AVAILABLE: to respond to ALP’s 30% off household battery announcement

Sunday April 6, 2025 Australia is the world leader when it comes to solar panels and experts say Labor’s latest energy policy announcement could see us blazing a similar trail on battery storage too. The $2.3 billion election pledge offers a 30 per cent discount on the upfront cost of a household battery, with small businesses and community facilities also eligible. The expansion of the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme will kick in on July 1 2025 and is anticipated to save recipients $1,100 per year ongoing on their power bills.
