THE HON MATT KEOGH MP

Minister for VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

MINISTER FOR DEFENCE PERSONNEL

MEDIA RELEASE

1 July 2024

applications now open for VETERANS’ HEALTH WEEK FUNDING

Veterans’ Health Week is an annual reminder that while service does take its toll on veterans and veteran families there are a variety of ways they can improve their mental health and wellbeing.

The unique nature of Defence life means that for many, colleagues become family very quickly, however when someone leaves the ADF, often that connection drops away.

That’s why it’s so important to encourage people to Keep Connected.

This Veterans’ Health Week, ex-service and community organisations are encouraged to facilitate events that will bring defence families and the broader veteran community together.

Applications for Veterans’ Health Week funding are now open, with grants increased to $1,000 this year.

Transitioning to civilian life can be a challenge for many veterans, but knowing you have a mate or family member to turn to and ask for help can make all the difference.

Applications for funding close on 30 August, with Veterans’ Health Week to kick off on 13 October 2024.
