Refugee Finds Freedom: Adelaide Doctor’s Journey to Jalsa Salana

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community < 1 mins read

Dr. Munawar Rana is eagerly anticipating attending the Jalsa Salana this year in Sydney. Arriving in Australia as a refugee in 1999, Dr. Rana fled religious persecution in Pakistan. Now, in his silver jubilee year in Australia, Dr. Rana reflects on his journey and expresses gratitude for the freedoms that Australia has granted members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Unlike in Pakistan, where practicing his faith could result in fines or imprisonment, he is free to practice his faith openly in Australia.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia will host its 36th Annual Jalsa Salana from Friday, July 12th to Sunday, July 14th at the Grand Pavilion, Rosehill Gardens - Grand Ave, Rosehill NSW 2142. This year’s event is expected to draw over 3,000 attendees from across Australia. It is Australia’s oldest annual Muslim conference.
