Santa Claus has been spotted on Tamborine Mountain
While he’s six months early for Christmas, locals say he’s a regular at this time, celebrating Christmas in July around the Mountain. In fact, cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers have all launched their Santa Specials for July, with Dig IT, Australia’s first mini-excavator park even renaming their nine machines after Santa’s trusted reindeers!!
There’s cozy fireside dinners, local carollers, festive spirits, tastes and tipples and Winter wonder adventures, all just an hour from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. Check out the video HERE.
Here’s how to celebrate Christmas in July on Tamborine Mountain, and possibly see Santa too!
- Cedar Creek Lodges: start your festive journey with sweet treats on arrival at the stunning Cedar Creek Lodges. There’s even Christmas-themed colouring activities for the kids. - Rainforest Restaurant at Cedar Creek Lodges: every Friday and Saturday night through July there’s a wonderful Christmas Menu available.
- St Bernards Hotel: Settle in to a traditional three-course Christmas dinner every Saturday night through July, complete with all the trimmings, a cozy fireplace, and stunning mountain views (it’s one of Santa’s favourites 🤫).
- The Mountain Manor: Christmas in July, just like in December, is all about feasting, and at The Mountain Manor there’s a flavour-filled three-course Christmas dinner with all the traditional fixings in an elegant setting all month.
- Grand Chameleon: Time for some festive fun! At the Grand Chameleon on July 27th there’s a special event planned: Festive Fireplace Fun - A Warm Christmas Story, starring performances by local musicians and carollers.
- Tamborine Mountain Distillery: Savor the season with a special Spiced Christmas Liqueur from the multi-award winning Tamborine Mountain Distillery. Yes, Santa is often seen popping in for a quick tipple.
- The Aerie: There’s not many places in Queensland to sip on authentic warm Mulled Wine; The Aerie on Tamborine Mountain is definitely one. Enjoy!

- Dig IT: Not only is this the home of the BEST DAY EVER, but now Australia’s first mini-excavator park has renamed their NINE awesome machines after Santa’s reindeers for all of July!! Yes there’s Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and the famous Rudolph. It’s quickly become one of Santa’s favourite places, as he’s left his reindeers at the North Pole but he still likes to call their names!
So this July, grab your winter woollies and head to Tamborine Mountain in the glorious Scenic Rim for Christmas themed goodness. HO, HO, HO!

Fun Fact: The Witches Falls section of Tamborine National Park was Queensland’s first national park to be declared under the new State Forests and National Parks Act 1906. Declared in 1908, it is Queensland's oldest national park. Over the years, additional reserves have been declared on the Tamborine plateau and surrounding foothills. The mountain’s basalt columns, cliffs, rocky outcrops and waterfalls are a lasting legacy of volcanic eruptions 23 million years ago. Tamborine is the most northerly remnant of the flows from a volcano centred on Mount Warning (Wollumbin).
