Hsieh Su-wei, the world’s second-ranked women’s double tennis player, will team up with Tsao Chia-yi to represent Taiwan. Kuo Hsing-chun, the world record holder in the women's 59kg weightlifting category for snatch, clean and jerk, and combined will also be competing.

For male athletes, table tennis player Chuang Chih-yuan will make his sixth Olympics appearance, setting a record for the most appearances by a Taiwanese athlete. Tang Chia-hung will once again compete in the horizontal bar gymnastics event, and Yang Yung-wei, Taiwan's first judo Olympic medalist, will be back to defend his title.
