Approximately 500 runners will race up the building’s 1,576 stairs to the iconic 86th Floor Observatory in the 46th annual Run-Up. This year’s designated heats will include elite runners, athletes with disabilities, celebrities, media, building tenants, and the public, among others. Registered runners will be notified of their race status on Aug. 12, with participation costs of $175 per runner to be charged only upon acceptance from the lottery.

“The world’s most famous tower race – the Empire State Building Run-Up – challenges athletes from across the globe, and we can’t wait to welcome them back to the Empire State Building for this bucket-list experience,” said Tony Malkin, chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust. “We congratulate in advance our amazing participants for this astonishing achievement – the race to the top of the ‘World’s Most Famous Building’ and Tripadvisor’s number one-rated attraction in the world.”

The Empire State Building is home to a Starbucks Reserve® flagship store. Covering three floors and 23,000 square feet, this location offers premium coffee and cocktail experiences like Signature Espresso Martinis, Whiskey Barrel-Aged Coffee, and interactive workshops showcasing the craft and innovation behind Starbucks coffee. Visitors can also enjoy elevated food, desserts, and exclusive Starbucks Reserve merchandise.

Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) serves as the official charity partner of the ESBRU once again with a designated division for athletes with permanent physical disabilities and CAF supporters who raise funds to empower lives through sports. Runners can bypass the lottery and run with #TeamCAF with a guaranteed charity fundraising entry found online.
