Family Day announced by Isa Rodeo Festival

 

📢📢 Rope and wrangle the kids because Mount Isa Rodeo Festival has announced that Sunday August 11 is officially REX AIRLINES FAMILY DAY with thanks to Mount Isa Mines all kids 17 and under welcome for FREE!

 

The final day of the Mount Isa Rodeo Festival, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest rodeo and the third largest rodeo in the world, will be a day of celebration, final BUCKLES and lots of fun including two of the funniest events in the arena, the Op Shop Barrel and the Super Hero Bronc Ride!

 

There’s free face painting and balloon making, 100 Rodeo Showbags to giveaway, 100 free rides at Sideshow Alley to win, Sideshow Alley Show Bag Specials, Family Meal Deals and all kids RODEO shirts will be half price.  Plus of course, there’s incredible, world class rodeo action including Finals and Buckle Presentations for:-

 

  • 2nd Division Barrel Race
  • 2nd Division Bull Ride
  • 2nd Division Saddle Bronc
  • 2nd Division Bare Back Bronc
  • Over 40’s Bull
  • Over 55’s Team Roping
  • Junior Breakaway Roping
  • Junior Steer Wrestling
  • Junior Team Roping
  • Mini Bulls 11-14
  • Op Shop Barrel and Super Hero Bronc Ride

 

And at Kiakati – the new an Indigenous Arts and Culture Precinct, there’s:

  • 9am - Art Exhibition opens
  • 10-12pm - All resident artists at work – Sheree Blackley +Cameron Leon
  • 11am – Live music on stage
  • 12pm - Kids learn to dance with the Sundowners Kalkutungu Dance Group
  • 1-3pm - All resident artists at work – Sheree Blackley + Cameron Leon
  • 3pm to 4pm - Live music on stage

“We are celebrating 65 years of rodeo this year, our program is a roundup of rodeo stars vying for some of the world’s most famous buckles, a leader board of Australian country rock stars and rodeo families and fans from across the country, with some super-hot wings in the mix! Tuesday 6th August: Isa Rodeo Hall of Fame BBQ Dinner Celebrating 65 Years of Rodeo

Celebrating the pioneers and champions of the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo with four new inductees announced.

 

Wednesday 7th August: Isa Street Festival

It’s the party that only Mount Isa can throw, starring 2024 Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright and Band followed by Lucy Holmes, star of the 100% Kylie stage extravaganza.

 

Thursday 8th August: Zonta Bush Poet’s Breakfast

Thursday 8th August:  Mount Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo Championships

  • The third year of the Mount Isa Indigenous Rodeo Championships will see more riders celebrated, and includes the first ever Ah One x Church Family Trans-Tasman Indigenous Rodeo Challenge.
  • Rodeo Rock starring Kasey Chambers + Christine Anu.
  • A Welcome to Country and cultural performance by the Sundowners Kalkutungu Dancers.
  • Opening of Kiakati – a new Kalkadoon arts and cultural precinct

 

Thursday 8th to 11th August: Mount Isa Mines Rodeo

  • Returning champions and contenders go ride for ride in the Southern Hemisphere’s largest rodeo and the third largest rodeo in the world.
  • Entertainment includes James Johnston, Brad Cox, Hindley Street Country Club and Zac & Goerge.
  • 10 American Jnr Bull Riders to ride against the Aussies in the Junior Bull Riding Championship.
  • Saturday Grand Entry honouring the legends of 65 years of Mount Isa Mines Rodeo.
  • Bell and Moir Toyota Kalkadoon Bar and Grill, which sold out last year, returns.
  • The Shank Brothers will host Australia’s hottest Hot Wing Challenge and the new Rib Wrecker Challenge.
  • Kiakati – a new Kalkadoon arts and cultural precinct
  • Sunday Family Day – Kids 17 years and under enter for FREE - with free face painting, balloon makers, entertainment and the Junior and Timed finals.
  • Prosecco Paddock and the XXXX Beer Garden.
