Australian terrorism law expert: Christopher Michaelson

UNSW Sydney < 1 mins read

Associate Professor Christopher Michaelsen from UNSW Law & Justice is available for comment regarding laws related to Australia's raised terrorism threat level.

His recent published work titled "Precursor Crimes in Australia's Anti-terrorism Legislation" examines:

  • Australian anti-terrorism legislation,
  • notable anti-terrorism prosecutions and convictions, and
  • the overall operation and impact of Australia's legislative approach to counter-terrorism.

"Like Spain and the United Kingdom, Australia is notable for its prolific production of counter-terrorism laws. Inevitably, the legislative agenda includes precursor crimes as a central feature of anti-terrorism laws. Relatively few cases of terrorism-related precursor crimes have arisen, but, when the button is pressed, they have been aggressively enforced and viewed with relish for extension to other societal problems."

AFL players’ hip issues begin early in their career

AFL draftees have shown changes to their hip joints early in their playing careers, in a new research finding that could reveal why elite athletes have higher levels of hip osteoarthritis.
