C29 Metals (ASX:C29) Receives Approval to Commence Initial Geological Work Program at Ulytau Uranium Project in Kazakhstan

Perth, Australia – 8 August 2024 | C29 Metals Limited (ASX: C29) ("C29" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has received Category 4 exploration works approval, enabling the immediate commencement of geophysical and soil sampling programs at its Ulytau Uranium Project in Kazakhstan. This approval marks a significant step forward in the Company’s exploration efforts as it moves closer towar drilling operations.

Highlights:

  • New Exploration Approval: C29 has secured Category 4 exploration approval, allowing the immediate launch of geophysical surveys, field mapping, and soil sampling across the Ulytau tenement.

  • Advances for Drilling Approval: The approval process for Category 2 drilling is at an advanced stage, with drilling approvals anticipated to come.

  • Field Operations: The Company’s geology team will now be able to begin site-wide mapping and soil sampling, using handheld XRF units to provide real-time geological data. This data will be crucial for refining potential drill hole targets and selecting appropriate methods for project development.

  • Community Engagement: C29 has established a base of operations at the nearby village of Aksuyek, where it enjoys strong community support since consultation efforts earlier this year. A Social Support Agreement has been signed, further strengthening local ties with the community.

Shannon Green, Managing Director of C29 Metals, stated: “It is very exciting to have the Category four (4) exploration approval granted enabling our geology team to immediately commence field works in preparation for drilling. This once again demonstrates the positive operating environment in Kazakhstan and the support the company is enjoying”.

The initial geological program will focus on tenement-wide mapping and soil sampling to verify historical shallow high-grade results and assess the extent of surface outcropping and shallow high-grade uranium across the tenement. The use of handheld XRF units in the field will provide real-time geological information, assisting the team in refining drill targets.

About the Ulytau Project:

The Ulytau Project is located in the Almaty Region of Southern Kazakhstan, approximately 15 km southwest of the Bota-Burum mine, one of the largest uranium deposits mined in the former Soviet Union. Uranium exploration in the area has been ongoing since 1953, with production at Bota-Burum continuing until 1991. The project’s proximity to such a significant historical uranium mine underscores its potential.
