FUZHOU, China, Aug. 2, 2024 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

From July 28 to July 31, Zhou Zuyi,Secretary of Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People's Congress led a delegation to Japan. Acting on the consensus reached between the state leaders of China and Japan, the delegation continued traditional friendship, further deepened the exchanges of sister-city relationships, promoted cooperation and development, and made new contributions to the comprehensive promotion of strategic and reciprocal relationship between China and Japan.

Japan has served as Fujian's sixth largest trading partner, fifth largest export market and an important source of foreign investment. The economic and trade cooperation between the two sides is getting increasingly closer. At the China (Fujian)-Japan Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference, Zhou Zuyi delivered a keynote speech, and introduced to the participants about the basic provincial conditions, regional characteristics, industrial characteristics, ecological advantages and other aspects of Fujian Province. Zhou stated broad space was available for bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Both sides should join hands to promote complementary advantages in industrial cooperation, upgrading bilateral trade and closer people-to-people exchanges, to promote more technical and capital cooperation between the two sides in relevant fields as electronic information, new energy vehicles, high-end equipment manufacturing and modern services. Both sides will strengthen cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, overseas warehousing, and bulk commodity trade, in an aim to continuously expand the scale of trade, and achieve industrial connection and complementary advantages.

Culture and tourism serve as messengers of peace and bridges of friendship. Fujian has enjoyed a time-honored history of exchanges with Okinawa and Nagasaki, with their own respective characteristics in cultural and tourism resources. There is a good foundation and great potential for deepening cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation. During the visit of the Fujian delegation to Japan, activities such as the Direct Flight Ceremony between Fuzhou and Naha, the "Mountains and Seas Embrace Fujian with Blessing Songs" Fresh Fujian (Okinawa) Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference, and the "Friendship Cherished by Close Neighbors" Fresh Fujian (Nagasaki) Cultural Tourism Photo Exhibition were held subsequently. Zhou Zuyi mentioned it is hoped that both sides continue to deepen cultural exchanges, promote closer people-to-people ties, carry out mutual promotion of resources, mutual visits of tourists, and information sharing, and jointly create more characteristic tourism brands; efforts will be made to conduct extensive friendly people-to-people exchanges, foster new forces for friendship that lasts for generations, and better promote mutual learning between civilizations and achieve people-to-people connectivity.
