Lloyd Williams, HSU National Secretary said:

“The broader Health Services Union is horrified by the charges that have been laid by the Fair Work Commission against Diana Asmar and six other individuals from the Health Workers Union. Our union has no tolerance for misuse of members funds and it’s important to specify that this is isolated to the Victoria Health Workers Union branch. The Union’s national executive has consistently sought to stand Diana Asmar aside while this investigation has been underway.

“The Union’s legal representatives will spend the next few days examining the best way to continue our efforts to swiftly restore this branch of the Union to full integrity, with a robust focus on its 16,000 hard working members.”

University Senate report highlights landmark reform options: NTEU

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) has urged the federal government to implement the recommendations from a historic Senate inquiry into university governance. The Senate Education and Employment Legislation Committee on Thursday released its final report, which has a further eight recommendations building on the 12 from September’s interim findings. UTS staff deliver overwhelming 95% vote of no confidence in Vice-Chancellor Andrew Parfitt

Staff at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have voted overwhelmingly to declare they have no confidence in Vice-Chancellor Andrew Parfitt, with 95% of voters supporting the motion. In this historic vote, open to all UTS staff members, more than 1500 UTS staff participated.
