HSU weighs in for NORCO

Health Services Union < 1 mins read

The Health Services Union has called on the NSW Government to intervene to prevent the farmer-owned NORCO milk company being shafted as a supplier of milk to health facilities across the North and Mid North Coast.

“NORCO is more than a beloved local institution,” said Gerard Hayes, HSU NSW Secretary. “As Australia’s last 100 per cent farmer owned dairy co-operative it is also provides economic lifeblood to hundreds of families in a region that has experienced the double whammy of floods and the cost of living crisis.

“Why would we cut this off at a time like this?

“NORCO is a trusted local company with deep roots. The dairy industry has played a huge role in the Northern Rivers for many years. We’ve even heard reports of patients refusing to drink the hospital milk unless it’s NORCO.

“Health workers want this decision overturned. We insist on local milk in hospitals and health facilities throughout the Northern Rivers and the North Coast.”

Liberals strong stand for rational energy policy

Liberals Against Nuclear today congratulated the Liberal Party leadership on taking a principled stand by refusing to cave to the Nationals' demands to lock in nuclear power, resulting in the Coalition's first formal split in 38 years. "This is a crucial moment for the Liberal Party and a very encouraging sign that the party leadership is listening," said Andrew Gregson, spokesperson for Liberals Against Nuclear. "Australian voters sent a clear message at the ballot box – the nuclear policy was economically irresponsible and contrary to Liberal values. We read today's development as a promising indication that the Liberal Party, under…

TALENT ALERT | Coalition split shows credible climate policy key to electoral success

With the National Party walking away from a Federal Coalition with the Liberal Party, it’s clear that any party lacking credible climate policies is bothunelectable and unsustainable. The Federal Election results were a clear mandate for stronger climate action and a criticism of politicians who deny climate science. Available for comment: Nic Seton, CEO, Parents for Climate “The Coalition is now publicly divided on climate policy — and parents who want a safe climate for their kids are watching. We need leadership that puts our children’s future ahead of political point-scoring, something both parties have the opportunity to demonstrate now.”…
