Hundreds to visit robots, AI in action at Brisbane factory

Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub 2 mins read

Three-hundred and fifty members of Brisbane’s manufacturing, research and student community will get a close-up of robots at work at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub public Open Day on Tuesday, 6 August.

ARM Hub is Australia’s leading artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and design-for-manufacture industry innovation hub.

Founder and CEO Professor Cori Stewart said this was the first time ARM Hub had hosted an Open Day at its Northgate Learning Factory.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the support shown by our local community,” Professor Stewart said.

“The purpose of the Open Day is to showcase the extraordinary work undertaken by Queensland, Australian, and international companies employing advanced manufacturing technologies.

“Our State and nation are looking to local manufacturers to rebuild strong and stable local and global supply chains. Advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotics, AI, 3D printing, and design-led engineering are part of this supply chain and provide the tools for manufacturers to do the job.

“The work on display at the Open Day is busting the myth that manufacturing is all ‘grease and grime’. Most of the cutting edges you’ll see are those in technology. The ARM Hub is currently developing an industry first Generative AI chatbot for industry and is partnering with some of the biggest names in the technology sector.”

Visitors will see a variety of some of the smartest technology in manufacturing and design at the Open Day, which is from 10am – 3pm on 6 August.

Among the exhibitors is Wisk, which is developing the world’s first self-flying, all-electric four-seat air taxi in preparation for use during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Robotic equipment from QUT and CSIRO will be on display, as well as interactive sessions with augmented and virtual reality.

Earlier this year the ARM Hub was announced as one of Australia’s newest AI Adopt Centres and was appointed an Industry Partner Organisation to the Australian Government’s new Industry Growth Program.
