Leading Australian Business Advisory Firm Mackay Goodwin Merges with RRI Advisory.

Melbourne, Australia, 14 August, 2024 - One of Australia's leading business advisory firms, Mackay Goodwin, renowned for its expertise in corporate restructuring, turnaround management, and insolvency expertise, has announced it is merging with Melbourne firm RRI Advisory.

RRI Advisory is a boutique insolvency firm that specialises in providing Insolvency, Turnaround, and Business Restructuring solutions to small and medium-sized businesses.

Mackay Goodwin, ranked third in insolvency/business recovery firms by appointment for FY24, merged with RRI Advisory to meet the growing demand for quality insolvency advice. Already ranked the leading firm in NSW, the firm is working to replicate that success in Victoria, explains CEO Domenic Calabretta: " More businesses in Australia are turning to, and trusting, Mackay Goodwin for their restructuring and insolvency needs. It was essential for us to have an exceptional team in place to address the escalating need for quality advice for distressed businesses. Merging with RRI, a well-established and highly well-respected advisory firm in the industry, was an obvious solution.

"It's no secret that insolvency numbers are skyrocketing in the current economic climate. ASIC figures for July show restructuring appointments grew by over 200% in 202324, and external administrations grew by 39% in the same period. Mackay Goodwin wanted to ensure we had a strong team to keep up with the increased demand," he continues.

"The RRI team has an excellent cross-industry knowledge of the SME landscape and is already highly respected, which will be an asset for Mackay Goodwin," says Calabretta.

RRI Advisory will rebrand under Mackay Goodwin, and its team will relocate to Mackay Goodwin's Melbourne offices on 15 August.

RRI Advisory Partner and Liquidator Liam Bellamy said of the merger: "Mackay Goodwin has a strong reputation for its ability to help businesses through complex financial and operational issues.

"RRI is excited to have more exposure to national clients and bring our expertise into the business. There are many synergies between the two firms, and we believe the merger is a great fit with the culture that we have built," he continues.

The merger with RRI Advisory is Mackay Goodwin's second this year, following the March announcement of its merger with Perth firm, GTS Advisory.

Mackay Goodwin's expansion signals the firm's ongoing commitment to growth and excellence in delivering specialised advisory services nationally.
