Soda Communications 2 mins read

The Australian Alpaca Association (AAA) is proud to announce the return of the Australian Alpaca National Show this August 16 to 18 at the Bendigo Showgrounds.

This is the premier event of the Australian Alpaca industry and a chance for locals and alpaca lovers alike to witness the very best alpacas and products from around the country in an unforgettable showcase. Australia has one of the largest registered breeding herds in the world with more than 180,000 alpacas and is the world leader in quality fleece production.

The Australian Alpaca National Show Convenor Jonathon Provis-Vincent said he is thrilled to be back for another year of fine fleece and an array of alpacas, bringing the locals together.

"Organising Australia's premier alpaca event has been an incredible honour and privilege. Our extraordinary team's dedication and hard work has created an outstanding showcase of the alpaca industry,” Jonathon said.

“The calibre of judges we have this year is a testament to the growth of our sector. We have found each year to be larger than the last and anticipate this will continue over the years. We can't wait to welcome everyone to this year's show and celebrate together.

Over the three days, there will be over 600 entries from craft items through to our furry friends parading. including 300 magnificent Suri and Huacaya alpacas, to be judged by the esteemed international judge Barbara Hetherington (UK), and Australia’s own Natasha Clark, Jillian Elwers, and Jude Anderson.

Feast your eyes on nearly 200 alpaca fleeces, displaying the finest quality that breeders across Australia have to offer as well as captivating art, photography, youth, and craft sections, with exhibits from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.

There will also be an art and photography exhibition where artist Darren Crothers will be judging and awarding the ultimate ‘paca pic’.

This Australian Alpaca National Show is free and open to the public with opportunities to purchase alpaca goodies, wander through the trade show to learn about the growing Australian alpaca industry and agritourism. Visitors can even book a farm stay with these fuzzy friends to redeem at their convenience. Guests can also watch the alpacas’ parade in their finest fleece and see the judging process to learn what makes the ultimate alpaca. Parking will be available at the showgrounds and clear signage directing to the excitement.

The weekend serves to showcase the finest alpacas in Australia, entertain, and bring awareness to the buzzing alpaca industry. Spectators can also explore a variety of trade stands offering a diverse range of alpaca products. Whether you're looking for luxurious alpaca fleece items or unique handmade crafts, you'll find something special to take home.
