Intra Energy Corporation (ASX:IEC) Identifies New Large-Scale Lithium and Gold Systems at Maggie Hays Hill Project in Western Australia

Jane Morgan Management 2 mins read

Sydney, Australia – 4 September 2024 | Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX: IEC) ("IEC" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the recent identification of lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) and gold systems at its Maggie Hays Hill (MHH) Project, which is located within the Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt, Western Australia. These results follow a 1,960-metre reconnaissance drilling effort that has demonstrated potential for substantial mineralisation in both lithium and gold.

Highlights:

  • Large-Scale Lithium-Caesium-Tantalum System Identified: The reconnaissance drilling outlined a 2-kilometre-long zone of enriched lithium, caesium, and tantalum, with associated niobium grades up to 499 ppm and tantalum grades up to 788 ppm. The drilling has now confirmed a presence of a large-scale LCT system, with the strongest lithium grades occurring near the boundaries of pegmatites.

  • New Gold System Discovery: The drilling program has also identified a widespread, low-grade gold system at the northern and central targets within the area. Some of the best results include 19 metres at 0.1 g/t gold, with higher grade intervals, such as 2 metres at 0.48 g/t gold, associated with quartz veining and enriched base metals.

Todd Hibberd, Principal Geologist of IEC, commented: “The drilling program has identified a large lithium system with exceptional grades of niobium and tantalum in places. We are in the right place and while we have not located the core of the lithium system, we are very close. We have only tested a small number of accessible targets and there are a multitude of additional targets to the west, east and north with high lithium, caesium and tantalum results.”

Maggie Hays Hill Project Background:

The 80% owned MHH Project is located near the Norseman-Hyden Road, and is close to significant nickel operations in the area. The project area is highly prospective for lithium, nickel, and gold, with the geology consisting of north-northwest trending mafic and ultramafic rocks, bounded by granitic intrusions. The project is approximately 25 km north of known spodumene lithium discoveries.

IEC remains focused on advancing the MHH Project, with upcoming exploration activities including further drilling, surface mapping, and geochemical analysis to better understand the mineralisation potential of this promising site.
