Local Business Flinders Accounting Wins Prestigious AWSBC Award

Flinders Accounting 2 mins read

Miriam Holme is the founder and owner of Flinders Accounting, a popular accounting firm in the Clovelly Park community, and has been honoured with the Australian Women Small Business Champion Award for Excellence in Accounting Services.

Flinders Accounting has evolved from a small boutique firm into a leading provider of accounting services across Australia. Miriam’s vision was to create a firm that offered exceptional accounting support while making a substantial impact on both the local and broader business community.

“We are deeply honoured to receive this Award,” said Miriam Holme. “This recognition is a reflection of the tremendous support we’ve received from our local community and the dedication of our fantastic team. It also serves as a celebration of female entrepreneurship and the strides women are making in the business world.”

"My mission is to demystify the often intimidating world of finance and taxation. I’m all about keeping things clear, accessible, and—dare I say—stress-free," Miriam adds.

Flinders Accounting has become a cornerstone of the Clovelly Park community by providing a range of comprehensive services, including tax preparation, financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, payroll services, and business advisory. The firm’s personalised approach ensures that each client receives tailored support, contributing to the success and growth of many local businesses.

“Our success is deeply intertwined with the success of our community,” Miriam added. “This award is a tribute to everyone who has supported us—our clients, our team, and the broader Clovelly Park community. It’s also a celebration of the impact women can have in the business world, and we hope it inspires others to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.”

Flinders Accounting’s innovative and flexible approach has allowed it to stay ahead in the industry while remaining firmly rooted in community values.

Miriam reflects on her business and why she's widely recognised as such a community-centric service provider: "I’ve built a structure that’s as flexible as the businesses we serve. We’ve moved away from the rigid, one-size-fits-all model and embraced a decentralised approach so that we can pivot quickly, adapt to new challenges, and introduce services that truly meet our clients' needs, even when they're out of the ordinary."

The Australian Women’s Small Business Championship Award for Excellence in Accounting Services is a prestigious recognition of the firm’s outstanding performance and impact.

Tax Practitioners Board

New Administrative Review Tribunal affirms TPB decision to protect public interest

The new Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) has rejected an application on appeal by former Gold Coast tax agent, Philippe Colin (also known as Phil Colin) to overturn the Tax Practitioners Board’s (TPB) decision to terminate his registration and impose a 4-year ban from reapplying.
