Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey to be featured in new Tasmanian national TV series

Tasmanian Beekeepers Association 2 mins read

The Tasmanian Beekeepers Association today announced that Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey will be featured in a new Channel 7 TV series called Left Off The Map.

The show will be hosted by internationally acclaimed chef Ben Milbourne, emerging chef Rhys Hannan, and Tasmanian celebrity Holly Bowden.

Left Off The Map is a uniquely Tasmanian television program that profiles our home state and highlights the food and characters that make Tasmania ‘Tassie.’

There will be 65 episodes, each 30 minutes long, airing on Channel 7 and 7+ Australia-wide from late-2024.

Each episode comprises four segments: two cooking segments and two lifestyle/travel segments.

The series will feature original recipes and stories unique to Tasmania, with a heavy focus on Tasmanian quality ingredients, including Leatherwood Honey.

In the cooking segments, Ben will create a wide range of easy-to-recreate, family-friendly dishes, many containing Leatherwood Honey. The story segments, on the other hand, will see Holly and Rhys visit iconic Tasmanian locations.

Tasmanian Beekeepers Association president Lindsay Bourke says this is a great opportunity for Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey to be featured on the national stage.

“Tasmanians know Leatherwood Honey is the world’s best, and now it’s time for us to tell everyone else.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a food-focused show developed in Tasmania to showcase the best honey in the world.

“Leatherwood honey is unique. The leatherwood trees only grow on Tasmania’s West Coast and in the Wilderness World Heritage Area.

“Leatherwood honey is literally the taste of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It’s totally unique and can’t be copied by anyone.

“Tasmanian beekeepers are providing honey and assistance to the producers, and we can’t wait to see the show and taste the new recipes,” Mr. Bourke said.
