Zambrero celebrates 300 restaurant milestone with 90,000 burrito giveaway and sets sights beyond 500

25 September 2024: Zambrero is today giving away 300 burritos at every one of their 300 locations. That’s 90,000 free burritos.

The promotion marks the opening of their 300th restaurant globally, cementing them as Australia’s largest Mexican restaurant chain. “We wanted to take this moment to celebrate with our customers, and what better way than with free burritos,” said Matthew Kenny, Zambrero CEO.

Zambrero was founded in 2005 by Dr Sam Prince in Braddon, Canberra. Zambrero now has an extensive network of restaurants across Australia and the globe, with restaurants in the UK, Ireland, NZ and the US.

Dr Prince has revealed he has signed agreements with franchise partners to take Zambrero to 400 restaurants globally and is now targeting reaching 500 restaurants and beyond.

“300 restaurants is a momentous milestone, and I want to thank our wonderful franchise network, restaurant teams and, most importantly, our customers for making this possible,” said Dr Prince. “Most excitingly, we already have commitments that will see us surpass the 400-restaurant milestone, so we now turn our attention to 500 restaurants and beyond.”

Zambrero Hawthorn took the honour of being the network’s 300th restaurant. Located on Glenferrie Rd, the restaurant opened on 18 September. The restaurant is led by one of Zambrero’s most experienced and accomplished Franchise Partners, Luke Grady. He owns 10 restaurants and has been involved with the brand since 2015.

“We’re very excited to have opened the 300th restaurant in Hawthorn. There’s a real buzz around Melbourne at the moment with lots of new Zambrero restaurants opening in and around the city”, said Mr Grady, who has a formidable team supporting him.

The Zambrero ethos has always been to deliver high-quality, fresh and convenient Mexican-inspired food while helping alleviate world hunger. Dr Prince was inspired by his aid work as a doctor in developing countries to establish Plate 4 Plate[1], an initiative that has seen Zambero donate over 80 million meals to those in need.

The 90,000 free burritos on offer today will also mean an additional 90,000 meals donated through Plate 4 Plate.

Mr Kenny said Zambrero is opening a new restaurant every week “as we bring Feel Good Mex to more people.”

“Our food is made of high quality, fresh ingredients — it’s great tasting, great value and better for you. Not only is it better for you, it’s also better for others because of Plate 4 Plate,” he said.
