Perth, Australia – 16 October 2024 | C29 Metals Limited (ASX: C29) ("C29" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has received notification from the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Department in Kazakhstan that all regulatory requirements for a drill permit at the Ulytau Uranium Project have been met.

Highlights:

  • Regulatory Approval: C29 has received official approval, clearing the way for the Company to mobilise its team and initiate exploration at the Ulytau Uranium Project.

  • Drilling Program: The initial drill program will focus on several strategic holes, targeting shallow mineralisation, with planned depths of ~200m.

  • Local Community Support: C29 enjoys strong support from the local community of the village of Aksuyek, with a Social Support Agreement signed.

  • Mobilisation: The Company’s geology team will mobilise to the site to commence pre-works ahead of the arrival of the diamond drill rig.

Shannon Green, Managing Director of C29 Metals, commented: “It is very exciting to have the official notification enabling our team to commence the initial diamond drilling program this season. Obtaining this notification once again demonstrates the positive operating environment in Kazakhstan and the support the company is enjoying.”

Diamond Drill Program:

The diamond drill program will focus on verifying historical drill intercepts, targeting key mineralised areas identified through geological modelling. A handheld XRF unit will be able to provide real-time geological information, allowing the team to prioritise samples for laboratory assay. The initial focus will be on mineralisation close to the surface, with planned drill depths of up to 200m.

Project Overview:

The Ulytau Uranium Project is located in the Almaty Region of Southern Kazakhstan, approximately 15km southwest of the historic Bota-Burum uranium mine. Exploration in the region dates back to 1953, with uranium production at Bota-Burum commencing in 1956 and continuing until 1991. The Bota-Burum mine produced an estimated 20,000 tonnes (44 million pounds) of uranium over its operational life.

Enough Recalls: The Safety Testing Gap Putting Our Children at Risk

Key Facts: Australia has no blanket requirement for mandatory pre-market safety testing for many children’s products labelled “3+”, unless a specific hazard standard applies (such as button batteries or magnets). Mandatory safety standards primarily apply to toys for children up to and including 36 months, and to products with identified risks such as button batteries or magnets. In 2024–25, the ACCC published 248 product recalls, many involving consumer goods that posed potential hazards to children. Recent recalls have included asbestos-contaminated children’s sand products and popular retail toys recalled due to serious choking risks. Consumer safety advocates and industry experts are…
