Celebrating its seventh iteration with new additions to the program, Champion King of the Court welcomes ballers and beats for the ultimate day out.

Champion’s King of the Court, Australia’s premier street basketball event, is back for its seventh tournament, promising an unforgettable experience filled with basketball, music, and community. Taking place on Saturday, November 9th at the RMIT A’Beckett Urban Square in Melbourne’s CBD, the highly anticipated tournament is expected to attract over 1,500 fans eager to witness teams battle it out for both crown and cash in the fast-paced, high-energy 3x3, 1x1, and dunk competitions.

This year’s event introduces exciting new features designed to elevate the experience for both players and spectators, including:

  • King of the Court 3x3 and 1x1 - Known for intense, condensed action, these variations of traditional basketball games take on distinct rules, played on a half-court. Winners for 3x3 will take home $3,000 whilst 1x1 winners take $1,000.
  • Dunk Competitions - Players showcase their creativity, athleticism, and showmanship in an entertaining dunk contest with the winner taking home $1,000.
  • Who’s Got Next - Emerging hip-hop artists battle it out in an electrifying new freestyle rap tournament competing for a prize of $1,000.
  • Fade stations - Spectators can get a fresh fade for free, courtesy of Kings Domain Barbers.
  • Exclusive merchandise stalls - Shop the exclusive Champion’s King of the Court merchandise.
  • Food & Beverage offerings - Courtesy Mr Latinos Catina, The Real Jerk, Red Bull and Superboost.
  • Plus special half-time guests & featured DJ performances from the likes of Soju Gang and DJ Smilez.

This year also marks the debut of Queen of the Court, a dedicated 3x3 tournament showcasing top female streetballers from around the nation. With inclusivity and accessibility as a standard, King of the Court continues to redefine sporting norms each year to create a unique platform that connects people through culture and movement.

The tournament will feature teams from across Australia, as well as internationally accomplished players representing America, Japan, South Korea, and France. Founder Mitch Lang expressed his enthusiasm for the event’s growth: “Each year, we strive to push the boundaries and create something far more than just a basketball event. We’re thrilled to welcome international players to this year’s tournament—a true testament to how King of the Court is uniting people from around the globe through the powerful blend of sport, music, and culture”.

With global streetwear brand Champion stepping in as the gold naming rights sponsor, fans can expect an enhanced atmosphere with exclusive merchandise and engaging activations. Every player will also be kitted out with exclusive Champion’s King of the Court team jerseys for stylish, mobile gameplay. Rory O’Halloran, Brand Manager of Champion Australia and New Zealand, says: “This event is about celebrating community, creativity, and the culture that defines streetball. We’re excited to partner with Mitch and contribute to KOTC’s growth with exclusive merchandise, on-site experiences, and opportunities for fans to engage with both brands on a deeper level.”
