Circuit making and STEM for all abilities

Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology is hosting a free hands-on workshop involving a Eureka Prize winning project for STEM education inclusion.  

 

The workshop aims to help special education teachers use accessible tools to teach circuit-making for all abilities (see event listing). 

 

What:

TapeBlocks are a creative, low-cost circuit making activity designed to cater to people with sensory, cognitive and physical disabilities. 

 

During the session, each teacher will receive a TapeBlocks kit (see attached images) and will be guided through the process of making creative circuits and how they can introduce STEM concepts to their special needs students, through these activities. 

 

Who: 

Eureka Prize winner, creator of the TapeBlocks and part of Monash University's Assistive Technologies research team, Associate Professor Kirsten Ellis will be conducting the workshop.

 

Associate Professor Ellis is available for interviews. An interview with one of the special education teachers and photographs from the workshop will be available on request after the workshop.
