The prestigious gala will be held on Thursday November 21, 2024, at View by Sydney, Walsh Bay.

2 October 2024 – Sydney – Innovation Bay, Australia’s leading membership community for technology founders and investors, and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) are excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for the 2024 Innovation Bay & ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase. The event will take place on Thursday, 21 November 2024 at View by Sydney, Walsh Bay starting at 5:00pm. Tickets can be purchased here.

Returning for its fifth year, the Showcase brings together Australia’s most promising renewables, clean tech, and climate tech startups with Australia’s elite investment community, including leading angel investors, Venture Capitalists (VCs), private equity, and corporate VCs.

Themed "Solar and Beyond: The Next Generation of Renewables", this year’s Showcase will immerse the audience in the future of renewable energy. Hand-picked finalists, representing the most exciting startups and scaleups in renewable energy, clean tech, and climate tech, will take the stage to share their transformative solutions with the audience.

These finalists will be carefully selected through a competitive application process (currently underway) based on their potential to drive significant impact in helping Australia reach its net zero targets, and an intention to raise capital or expand in the next two to three years. Notable companies previously featured at the Showcase include Australian success stories Hysata, 5B, RayGen.

Gala attendees will hear from ARENA CEO, Darren Miller. They will also be treated to a thought-provoking, candid conversation between a distinguished group of top investors who are pioneering Australia’s future in clean energy:

  • Alexandra Clunies Ross – Partner, Artesian
  • Angela Karl – Managing Director, Head of Energy Transition, HMC Capital
  • Katerina Kimmorley – Head of Commercial and Investments, Boundless & Commissioner, NSW Net Zero Emissions Commission

The group will be moderated by Bronwen Clune, VC and startup correspondent at Capital Brief, ensuring an insightful conversation that gets to the heart of the future of Australian investment in renewables, beyond solar technologies.

Why attend?

In addition to hearing from the start-ups and investors, attendees will enjoy an exclusive sit-down gala dinner, offering unparalleled networking opportunities with key players in the renewable energy industry.

This is a must-attend event for investors, designed to help them discover prime investment opportunities in the renewables space, establish deeper relationships with cutting-edge founders, and gain valuable insights from other investors operating in the space.

“The Renewables Startup Showcase is the premier event that connects visionary founders with the right investors to foster the growth of the renewables sector,” said Phaedon Stough, CEO and Co-founder of Innovation Bay. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with ARENA to introduce the next generation of transformative renewable technology to the world.”

Innovation Symposium to explore promising future for Australia in Vanadium Flow Battery supply chain

Advancements in long-duration energy storage, which are crucial for the future utilisation of renewable sources like solar and wind, will be discussed at UNSW Sydney this week. Emeritus Professor Maria Skyllas-Kazacos and her team at UNSW will host the 40th Anniversary Flow Battery Innovation Symposium, marking four decades since the groundbreaking invention of the vanadium redox flow battery (VFB). Since the first 1kW vanadium flow battery was built at UNSW, the technology has evolved significantly, with systems now being installed internationally at capacities into gigawatt hour scale. This scaling up of flow battery deployments signals a major shift in the…

Queenslanders need certainty on clean energy and closing coal clunkers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE CLIMATE COUNCIL has expressed concern after reports that, if elected, a Crisafulli government would undermine the progress underway to build more clean energy, resulting in worse climate pollution and energy reliability in the Sunshine State. Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie said: “Queensland is the state most affected by unnatural disasters, from terrible floods, heatwaves and bushfires. Just this week the Emergency Leaders for Climate Action reported that Queensland bushfires have become more destructive and dangerous due to climate change. “Climate action targets are important goals for slashing climate pollution.
