NALSPA < 1 mins read

The National Automotive Leasing and Salary Packaging Association (NALSPA) will co-host a Parliamentary Friends of Electric Vehicles event that will highlight the changing EV landscape in Australia and notably the rise in popularity of low-emissions plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVS), as well as initiatives that are making EVs more affordable for everyday Australians and challenges that lie ahead.

The event will also feature a display of some of the latest BEV and PHEV models in Australia, showcased outside of Parliament House.

WHO:

  • Parliamentary Friends of Electric Vehicles co-chairs Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP and Dr Monique Ryan MP, and Speaker of the House, the Hon Milton Dick MP
  • Electric Vehicle Council CEO, Samantha Johnson
  • Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries CEO, Tony Weber
  • NALSPA CEO, Rohan Martin

WHEN: Wednesday October 9. Car display from 7.30am. Speeches from 9.20am

WHERE:

  • Car display: Senate Entrance, Southern Drop Off Zone, Parliament Drive
  • Speeches: Speakers Courtyard, RG44, Parliament House, Canberra

NALSPA CEO Rohan Martin said: “Australians living in the outer suburbs and regional areas are embracing EVs, with plug-in hybrids experiencing a notable rise in sales – importantly with the assistance of government policy. PHEVs act as an essential bridge to full electric driving.

“While BEV model availability and charging infrastructure is improving, plug-in hybrids provide a practical solution for motorists who are concerned about driving range or want a larger car that’s not yet available in pure EV form, all while enjoying the benefits of lower running costs and emissions.

“Particularly amidst a cost-of-living crisis, ongoing government support to encourage PHEVs supply and take-up, along with BEVs, is critical to maintain affordability for cleaner versions of the types of vehicles Australians want to drive, while advancing the nation’s emissions reduction goals.”
