Melbourne—Hands on Health Australia (HoHA) will announce a significant expansion of its services aimed at improving health outcomes for disadvantaged and Indigenous populations. The initiative reflects HoHA’s commitment to addressing health disparities and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare and well-being.
Key Highlights:
• 30% Increase in Demand over the last 18 months. HoHA has experienced a 30% increase in demand for services, with more than 50% of those seeking assistance being women.
• New Logo Launch. HoHA will unveil a new logo symbolising its dedication to serving these communities, representing core values of inclusivity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
• Redesigned Website. HoHA will launch its redesigned website, [www.hoha.org.au](http://www.hoha.org.au), featuring comprehensive health services tailored to meet the unique needs of its disadvantaged and indigenous communities. The website will include:
o Comprehensive Health Services: Access to primary care, mental health support, preventive screenings, and wellness programs specifically designed for disadvantaged and Indigenous individuals.
o Educational Resources: Culturally relevant health education materials and referrals for legal and financial services.
o Community Engagement Opportunities: A platform for community members to participate in health initiatives and connect with HoHA’s team.
HoHA’s CEO, Franca Smarrelli, highlighted that the expanded services were aimed at “breaking down the barriers to disadvantaged and Indigenous communities in accessing healthcare.”
HoHA’s Chair, Robert Masters AM, emphasized the organization had provided the vital services for 35 years without federal or state assistance, and was focussed on offering a social prescription model to support those in need.
