New Return and Earn machine now open in Telopea

Return and Earn 2 mins read

Telopea residents have a new location to recycle their eligible bottles and cans, with a new Return and Earn machine now open at the Sanfa Village Supermarket.

The Sanfa Supermarket Telopea Return and Earn machine is the 13th return point in the City of Parramatta area, providing locals with even more opportunities to return their eligible bottles and cans for the 10c refund.

“City of Parramatta residents are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 104.8 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, the network operator for the scheme.

Users of the new machine can print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed for cash at the Sanfa Village Grocer, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to one of the many donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app such as Parramatta Women’s Shelter to help them provide a lifeline for those escaping domestic and family.

Or they can donate their refund to the current state-wide donation appeal in support of Little Wings, providing free air and ground transport for seriously ill children from regional and remote areas across NSW, allowing for life-saving medical treatments.

More than 12 billion containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 630 return points across NSW since the scheme began, resulting in more than $1.2 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.

Return and Earn is also a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW with more than $62 million raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched.

The Return and Earn machine at Sanfa Supermarket Telopea is located at 7A Evans Road, Telopea. The machine is open from 9:00am to 7:00pm daily.

“I encourage everyone to make Return and Earn a part of your regular recycling routine. Together we can all contribute to a more sustainable future, where the materials that our bottles, cans and cartons are made of are kept in use and out of landfill.” Mr. Dorney said.

Trace Levels of PFAS found in Adelaide’s Tap Water. But PFAS not detected by SA Water.

Key Facts: Independent researchers have detected PFAS in Adelaide drinking water. This is the third time that scientists have detected PFAS in Adelaide drinking water. SA Water has however not detected PFAS in raw water supplies. It would appear that SA Water PFAS tests are limited and do not detect PFAS at levels where PFAS could be present. In comparison, Sydney Water have detected PFASs thousands of times in Sydney water supplies since 2024, because they test at levels 20 times less than SA Water. PFAS may also be present in SA Water piping and infrastructure and could be re-deposited…

Homelessness NSW backs calls for Inquest into death of Bikram Lama

Homelessness NSW has backed urgent calls for a formal coronial inquest into the death of rough sleeper Bikram Lama. “An inquest is vital to examine the policy failures that led to Mr Lama’s tragic death and to ensure this never happens again,” said Homelessness NSW CEO Dom Rowe. “The death of every person experiencing homelessness is a tragedy and very often a systematic failure. “We strongly support mandating the reporting of homelessness deaths to the coroner to help determine where, when and how deaths occur. “Our thoughts are with Mr Lama’s family and friends.”Contact details: Eliot | 0423 921 200
