On October 29th and 30th, ICMEC Australia will shine a light on the critical battle against child sexual exploitation.

Media alert 2 mins read

ICMEC Australia will spotlight the critical fight against child sexual exploitation at the SaferAI for Children Summit and the ICMEC Australia Symposium, both taking place in Sydney in late October.

The Safer AI for Children Summit on October 29 will explore the role of AI in victim identification and preventive strategies against child sexual exploitation (CSE). The following day, the Financial Crime Symposium on October 30 will bring together leaders from financial services, cryptocurrency, travel, telecoms, ISPs, law enforcement, and the public sector to enhance collaboration in combatting and preventing child sexual exploitation. These initiatives will highlight ongoing efforts to safeguard Australian children from child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Both events will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including the Acting AFP Commissioner, the eSafety Commissioner, and the European Union Ambassador to Australia, alongside esteemed law enforcement and academic experts. They will lead discussions on preventing and disrupting offences within the financial sector and the impact of emerging technologies on child safety, exploring both the opportunities and challenges these innovations present.

ICMEC Australia’s CEO, Anna Bowden, emphasised the power of collaboration, stating:

‘ICMEC Australia is proud to unite such diverse and critical voices in the conversation on child protection. The cooperation fostered at these events is not just valuable but essential for developing innovative and effective strategies to safeguard children from child sexual exploitation now and in the future’.

Super Members Council

Outdated super exclusion costing cleaners, housekeepers and nannies $150 million each year

The Super Members Council (SMC) is calling on the Government to scrap an outdated and discriminatory law denying domestic workers in private homes - cleaners, housekeepers and nannies, the majority of which are women - to be guaranteed superannuation. The Senate Economics Legislation Committee is inquiring into the laws that give rise to the exclusion of part-time domestic workers. The Council urges Government to remove this exclusion. Under current laws, domestic workers employed in private homes who work less than 30 hours a week for the same employer would continue to be excluded from guaranteed super — an omission that…
