Ride to Raise Funds for Youth Mental Health at 2nd Annual
Manly Spin-a-thon

After raising over $25,000 for youth mental health initiatives in 2023, the Spin-a-thon returns to Manly’s Corso

Frenchs Forest, NSW - 31 October 2024: Proveda Foundation in collaboration with the Manly Business Chamber and ANTHEMCYCLE are excited to announce the 2nd annual Manly Spin-a-thon - an outdoor, stationary spin fundraising event aimed to build awareness and much-needed funds for youth mental health programs in northern Sydney. Taking place on Saturday, 7th December 2024 from 10am-3:30pm near 29 Sydney Road, the Spin-a-thon is back following a successful first year and registration to ride or sponsor a team is now open!

Youth mental health is a massive issue with over 38% of Australians between the ages of 16–24 years old experiencing a 12-month mental health disorder.1 “We know youth mental health is our biggest cause of deaths, of suicide, for young people. We need to do more. These problems are complex, but we can’t let things continue as they are,” stressed Zali Steggall, Federal Member for Warringah, who attended last year’s Spin-a-thon. The Spin-a-thon hopes to build awareness about the issue and highlight a pressing need in the community for services to help youth who are in need.

Raising over $25,000 for Waves of Wellness (WOW) Foundation last year, which funded four Surf Therapy Programs for local youth,  the Spin-a-thon is aiming even higher for year two by supporting five impactful, local grassroots charities dedicated to youth mental health: Empowering Parents in Crisis (EPIC), Harrison Riedel Foundation, KYDS Youth Counselling, WOW Foundation and Proveda Foundation

“Following the success of the first Spin-a-thon, we’re excited to be returning for another year. At Proveda, we see the effect the mental health crisis has on our local youth through services such as our The Way Back Support Service (NSW), which is designed to support people who have recently attempted suicide,” said Proveda Foundation CEO, Kaz Dawson. “Through supporting and championing local charities, our hope is we can all help make a difference in the lives of youth and their families who are struggling.”

For those looking to get involved in this year’s Spin-a-thon, participants can join a team or ride as an individual on one of 27 stationary bikes set up by ANTHEMCYCLE, each accommodating four riders. Whether experienced or not, riders will enjoy a Spin class at their own pace with upbeat music, led by experienced instructors. Riders can choose to direct their donations to a specific charity or support all organisations involved. Proceeds from the day will be donated to each charity based on their rider support base.

We’re stoked to be back at the Spin-a-thon this year! It's amazing to see the community come together for such a great cause, and with the huge success of last year, we’re excited to do it all again. A big thank you to the Proveda Foundation for their continued support in helping us raise much-needed funds for our evidence-based youth mental health programs right here on the Northern Beaches. We’re incredibly passionate about youth mental health at Waves of Wellness Foundation, so it’s going to be a great day full of energy, positivity, and sweat - all for an important cause. Let's saddle up, and make a real impact together" said WOW CEO Joel Pilgram.

Whether you’re riding or just there to support, the event will provide a fun day out with music and entertainment, overtaking a section just off The Corso near Sydney Road in Manly. It will provide everyone in the community with the opportunity to show support for local youth and their mental health. With limited spots available, register today to secure your ride!
