Takes all upgrade makes it easier to return and earn in Cowra

Return and Earn 2 mins read

Return and Earn has launched an innovative “takes all” trial that is set to transform how Cowra residents recycle their eligible bottles and cans through the local Return and Earn machine.

No more pre-sorting of containers – you can now drop all your eligible containers through any single chute at our updated machines, making it faster to return and earn the 10c refund for every container.

The upgrades have been made to the Return and Earn Woolworths Cowra machine located in the car park at 3 - 9 Railway Lane, Cowra. Open daily from 7:00am to 10:00pm.

“Cowra Council residents are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned more than over 35 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.

“These improvements to local return points will make it even easier and quicker to return your eligible bottles and cans and pocket the refund.”

Users of the machine can still print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed for cash at Woolworths, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app.

Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. Over $62 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched in 2017.

More than 12 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 640 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.2 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.

“I encourage everyone in the region to continue to make Return and Earn a part of your routine. Together, we are all contributing to a more sustainable future, where the materials that our bottles, cans and cartons are made of are kept in use and out of landfill.” Mr. Dorney said.

State of the Climate: a frightening read for every Australian

THE STATE OF THE CLIMATE 2024 report from Australia’s CSIRO and Bureau of Meteorology confirms the experiences of millions of Australians: we are now living in an era of climate consequences. Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie said: “Climate pollution is hitting Australian families hard and the consequences are playing out in real time, making our fire seasons longer, and the rain to arrive in sudden, heavy downpours.” “Unfortunately, the State of the Climate report is not a Halloween trick; it's a grim reminder that we have no time to waste. It is frightening to read.” “We can take heart from…

TALENT AVAILABLE: State of Climate Report 2024 shows no time to waste

Thursday 31 October: CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology have today released the State of the Climate Report 2024, which shows Australians are living with the dire consequences of increasing climate pollution caused by the burning of coal, oil and gas. The report highlights an increase of extreme fire seasons, extreme heat events, intense heavy rainfall and sea level rise, exacerbating pressures on the health and wellbeing of Australians and ecosystems. Alarmingly, scientists found the oceans around Australia are continuing to warm, with increases in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leading to more acidic oceans, particularly south of Australia, contributing…
