Unions will be joined by Federal Minister for the Environment Tanya Plibersek, NSW Minister for Women Jodie Harrison and women with lived experience to launch a damning new report exposing the alarming amount of sexual harassment experienced by migrant women in Australian workplaces.

Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey will be joined by migrant women workers for a doorstep at the conclusion of the launch.

A survey of more than 3,000 migrant women found more than half have experienced workplace sexual harassment, with the highest rate in the construction industry where more than four in five respondents reported workplace sexual harassment. There were also alarmingly high records of sexual harassment in the horticulture, hospitality, retail and cleaning industries.

Sexual harassment of migrant women revealed in damning report

A new report exposes the alarming prevalence of sexual harassment of migrant women on temporary visas in Australian workplaces, highlighting a culture of widespread silence and fear. The survey of more than 3,000 migrant women across multiple industries found more than half have experienced workplace sexual harassment. The highest rate was in the construction industry where more than four in five (82%) respondents reported workplace sexual harassment.
