Artarmon Street Festival set to light up Hampden Road with fun and entertainment

Willoughby City Council 2 mins read

Residents of Willoughby and surrounds are invited to a day of fun and excitement at the Artarmon Street Festival.

Celebrate the newly upgraded Artarmon Village at this family-friendly event, with games, rides and entertainment for all ages.

The shops along Hampden Rd will come alive with delicious outdoor dining offerings while local retailers and community organisations showcase their unique products, services and interactive experiences.

Willoughby City Council Mayor Tanya Taylor emphasised the importance of the festival for the community. “The Artarmon Street Festival highlights our commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and creating vibrant spaces for residents and visitors,” she said. “This year’s festival promises activities and entertainment for everyone, among the setting of the newly upgraded streetscape.”

The Artarmon Street Festival will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, 10am to 4pm on Hampden Road which will be temporarily closed to vehicles, and opened up to people, for the event.

The Artarmon Street Festival is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

Minister for Roads, Arts, Music and the Night-Time Economy, Jobs and Tourism John Graham said:

“We’re excited to support this event in Artarmon.

“Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. Our streets are a critical part of our public and social infrastructure. Great streets make great towns and centres and reflect the local community and culture.

“The Open Streets program is about temporarily transforming our main streets into vibrant and welcoming public event spaces.

“The colour and diversity of these 130 events celebrates the unique personality of each town or suburb. This is what our vibrancy agenda is all about, backing locals to create events and entertainment that works for their local community."

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, walk, or ride to the event due to limited street parking.

Riverina Water Workers Return to Work as Industrial Commission Process Agreed

Riverina Water workers have today returned to work following a second round of strike action, after management and union representatives agreed to further discussions. Riverina Water and the United Services Union (USU) have jointly committed to seeking the intervention of the New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) to oversee further discussions on this matter and on productivity measures that could offset the costs of harmonising working hours. In layman’s terms, both parties have agreed to call in the ‘industrial umpire’ to find a way forward in this matter. The core issue at the heart of the dispute is the…

More needs to be done for business in Melbourne budget

The Committee for Melbourne commends the plan to reduce Council’s debt from $212 million in 2025–26 to $61 million by 2028–29 and support targeted investments in public safety, cleanliness and community infrastructure – all essential to ensuring Melbourne remains a globally competitive and liveable city for residents, businesses and visitors. However, this budget fails to address the pressing concerns of the business community, including fulfilling election commitments.  While investments in safety – such as expanded CCTV and lighting – is also welcome and consistent with the Committee’s ongoing advocacy for a safer, more inclusive city, broader concerns around accessibility, amenity and…
