Crowning Glory

The Fruition Group Sweeps Top Awards in Hair Styling

The team at The Fruition Group in Brisbane are going to need a bigger mantlepiece! This already-multi-award-winning group has just dominated at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA), the national awards where the top guns of hair styling and colour are awarded.

For the second year in a row, MAX COOPER has won AHFA 2024 QLD Hairdresser of the Year!! This means Max will now represent Queensland at the national awards (national contention requires two consecutive state awards to qualify).

Thirty-one year old Max is a salon partner at Helmet Hair Co., part of The Fruition Group, a full-time stylist and Education Facilitator at the group. He took the title this year with his ‘Reverie’ collection. He’s no stranger to the spotlight, being a finalist for Queensland Hairdresser of the Year in 2022 and having styled for the country’s leading fashion events.

Joining Max in the winner’s circle at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards is Fruition Salon’s also award-winning stylist, LOUISE GRAHAM who won AHFA 2024 Creative Colourist of the Year!

Her collection, ‘Notte Stellata’ was inspired by her own journey through imagination and reality with each look reflecting emotions like passion, rage and love through the innovative use of colour.

The Fruition Group was founded by AHFA Hairdresser of the Year alumni Craig Smith (and owner of one of the world’s best mullets!) who has taught around the world and continues to mentor young people into the industry. Since opening in the city in 1996 and then moving to Wilston in Brisbane’s inner north in 2012, Craig has mentored many apprentices to award winning positions, with many now working overseas in leading salons in London and New York.

Celebrating its 25th year in the hairdressing industry, The Fruition Group is home to three salon business units: Fruition Wilston, Fruition Redhill, and its little sibling Helmet in Nundah.   Collectively home to almost as much hair gilt as Beyoncé has Grammys, Fruition salons is the sort clients run red lights for, and they welcome a lineup of superstar names to their chairs (‘though they would never snip and tell).
