Introducing Momentrs: Sydney based Rezilium launches Momentrs, a workplace training program aims at reducing gender-based violence and family abuse through mentorship

Thursday 28 November 2024 – Sydney based leadership development firm Rezilium today officially launched Momentrs, a bespoke mentoring training program whose goal is to end gender-based violence and family abuse in Australia by 2040.

Led by Kamal Sarma, who has been involved with RUOK non-profit movement since 2009. Momentrs combines 20 years of leadership research and proven training methods to address gender-based violence and family abuse at the root cause. Sarma believes the key to this is fostering open conversations between mentors in the workplace and mentees.

“Adolescents and young men are feeling increasingly disconnected and isolated from their families and society, and in the resulting vacuum, toxic masculinity seeps in,” said Sarma. “This not only causes distance, disrespect and disdain between women and men, but also an increase in self-harm among young men that needs urgent address.”

National figures currently show that one in six women have experienced physical or sexual violence from a partner since the age of 15,[1] and at least 43 women were killed in violent attacks by men in 2024 alone.[2] Of more than 3,000 lives lost to suicide each year, approximately 75% are men.[3]

Until now, public discourse has focused primarily on holding gender-based violence perpetrators accountable, however there has been less action taken to address the root cause of the issue. Momentrs’ mission is to help young men in particular build healthier relationships with themselves and others by learning to connect with self, loved ones and a find higher purpose to be the best version of themselves.

To achieve this goal, Momentrs offers Australian private and public sector organisations of all sizes with a comprehensive new mentoring training program that equips senior team members with essential tools and techniques to become effective mentors, and in this way empower younger mentees to navigate and the inevitable challenges of life.

“Young men are not just a potential risk to others – they are also at risk to themselves. Gender-based violence and family abuse are public issues that require participation from all sectors of society, including business,” said Sarma.

“By fostering open conversations led by senior mentors about mental health, relationships, and masculinity, businesses can play a key role in helping prevent the cycle of violence. My hope is that this can be achieved in Australia before 2045.”

In preparation for its official Australian launch, the Momentrs mentoring course was road tested at pilot sessions attended by employees from  Kmart, Telstra and St Johns Ambulance. Following its official launch, Momentrs will also partner with My First Job, an organisation that is dedicated to assisting teens prepare for and find their first job, to expand their mentorship capabilities in various demographics.

“We have access to over 20,000 young people entering the workforce. One way to help them succeed in life is by providing mentors to guide their personal and professional growth and development,”said Cass Champion, Founder of My First Job.

While the program focuses on corporate mentorship, it also serves to connect mentees with mentors within their community. Leaders who wish to learn more about the Momentrs initiative can find out more at https://www.rezilium.com/momentrs.

Navigating the Supply Chain for Scope 3 Emissions

With more data centres transitioning to renewable energy sources, Scope 3 emissions become a data centre’s largest contributor to its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This category of emissions is also the least reported and understood. The focus on quantifying Scope 3 emissions in the value chain is part of a broader effort by organisations to assess and manage their environmental impact comprehensively. However, it requires a data-driven approach to helping data centre operators identify and categorise emissions from operations and the supply chain, then prioritise efforts to make impactful carbon reductions. This includes outsourced IT services from cloud and colocation…
