Liberals must oppose Greens’ constitutional enshrinement of abortion

Family First < 1 mins read

Family First Victorian lead Senate candidate Bernie Finn has urged his former state Liberal colleagues to oppose a Greens’ push to enshrine abortion-to-birth in the constitution.

“The Liberals have traditionally allowed a conscience vote on matters of life and death but if they don’t oppose the Greens’ constitutional enshrinement as a block, there will never be another conscience vote on abortion in Victoria,” Mr Finn said.

“Polling consistently shows Australians are opposed to late-term-abortion and putting this in the constitution out of the reach of further public debate is an arrogant move by political elites.

“Clearly the greens are rattled by the evidence of late-term babies routinely surviving the abortion attempts on their lives and then being left to die in the most inhumane of circumstances.

“The Liberals should not join Labor and the Greens in putting the issue of abortion beyond further parliamentary debate.

“Abortion scare campaigns at the Queensland and US elections failed to stop voters from supporting pro-life candidates,” Mr Finn said.

Mr Finn was expelled from the Liberal party because of his pro-life views and has since joined Family First where he continues to fight for human rights for unborn babies.

He leads the annual March for the Babies in Victoria which attracts more than 3000 people each year.

Guaranteeing a super start to work: pay super to all workers under 18

Australia’s under-18 workers could each have $10,000 more at retirement if an outdated exclusion that denies them super contributions is abolished, a new report has found. Under-18s are currently denied compulsory super contributions unless they work more than 30 hours a week, due to a discriminatory rule that is complex for businesses to track and ensure legal compliance. A new report from the Super Members Council finds about nine in 10 teenagers do not reach the 30-hour work threshold each week, denying about 505,000 teenage workers about $368 million in total super contributions a year. Rigorous analysis in the new…

$1 BILLION IN TREE CANOPY HANGS IN THE BALANCE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT SAYS NO

Prominent botanist and academic, Dr Greg Moore OAM has called for the Minister for Energy and Resources, Lily D’Ambrosio, to vote for common sense and ensure Victoria’s environment is secured for the future by adding $1 billion in tree canopy. The Victorian Government is seeking to overturn the overwhelming recommendation of a highly credentialled expert committee which wants to reduce unnecessary tree pruning around power lines in Victoria. Dr Greg Moore said: “This is bureaucracy gone mad with a legitimate, sensible and safe proposal being overturned despite the overwhelming recommendation of the committee established to provide expert advice on this…
