Liberals must oppose Greens’ constitutional enshrinement of abortion

Family First < 1 mins read

Family First Victorian lead Senate candidate Bernie Finn has urged his former state Liberal colleagues to oppose a Greens’ push to enshrine abortion-to-birth in the constitution.

“The Liberals have traditionally allowed a conscience vote on matters of life and death but if they don’t oppose the Greens’ constitutional enshrinement as a block, there will never be another conscience vote on abortion in Victoria,” Mr Finn said.

“Polling consistently shows Australians are opposed to late-term-abortion and putting this in the constitution out of the reach of further public debate is an arrogant move by political elites.

“Clearly the greens are rattled by the evidence of late-term babies routinely surviving the abortion attempts on their lives and then being left to die in the most inhumane of circumstances.

“The Liberals should not join Labor and the Greens in putting the issue of abortion beyond further parliamentary debate.

“Abortion scare campaigns at the Queensland and US elections failed to stop voters from supporting pro-life candidates,” Mr Finn said.

Mr Finn was expelled from the Liberal party because of his pro-life views and has since joined Family First where he continues to fight for human rights for unborn babies.

He leads the annual March for the Babies in Victoria which attracts more than 3000 people each year.
