VOICES FOR PEACE UNITE AT COMMUNITY SYMPOSIUM IN BLACKWOOD

The Elder's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (Adelaide South Chapter) will hold its annual peace symposium, Voices for Peace Symposium, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, 16 November 2024, at the Blackwood Uniting Church in Adelaide.

The symposium will highlight the crucial role of fostering peace and societal harmony, especially amid rising global tensions. It will feature inspiring talks, discussions, and personal stories to showcase how leadership is essential in bridging divides and driving positive change.

Among the distinguished speakers are:

  • Catherine Hutchesson MP - State Member for Waite
  • Cr Joanna Wells - Elected Member of Boorman Ward City of Mitcham
  • Allen Edwards - Chairperson of the Blackwood Reconciliation Group 
  • Abdul Khalique Taluqdar – Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Representative from UK
  • Abdul Jameel Mubashar - Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Representative from ACT
  • Kamran Tahir – Imam of Mahmood Mosque and Noor Mosque SA

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) has commenced a review of theExposure Draft Legislation: Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill 2026(‘the Exposure Draft Bill’). The Exposure Draft Bill proposes a comprehensive package of reforms intended to further criminalise hateful conduct and ensure that those who seek to spread hatred, division and radicalisation are met with severe penalties.
