Your present is my presence: Summer bookings rise at Reflections with holiday gifting trend

Reflections Holidays 2 mins read

A trend towards prioritising travel and sharing meaningful moments with loved ones over traditional holiday gift giving may have contributed to a rise in bookings at Reflections Holidays parks and properties this summer compared to last year.

Reflections Holidays Chief Executive Officer Nick Baker said that the company’s bookings for November through to February were 7% up compared to the same time in 2023, with Reflections parks gearing up for a bumper school holiday season.

With a recent report revealing Australians are embracing travel and experiences over traditional gifts in the 2024 holiday season, Mr Baker said there was anecdotal evidence to suggest some families were prioritising spending on group accommodation bookings at Christmas rather than traditional gifts.

“We all celebrate Christmas in different ways and the COVID-19 pandemic served not only as a reminder of the amazing holiday destinations we have in Australia, but the importance of connecting with our loved ones and, where possible, doing that in nature, which has a positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing,” Mr Baker said.

“Our holiday parks are located close to some of the best breach breaks and spectacular inland locations in NSW and though many of them are heavily booked in the days around Christmas and New Year, as you’d expect, there is still availability across our portfolio in the summer period.”

Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper said Reflections is the largest holiday park group in New South Wales, operating 40 holiday parks, campgrounds and unique properties on Crown land in coastal and inland locations, with a focus on connecting its guests to nature-based experiences.

“Having quality holiday time with loved ones at a Crown land holiday park these summer holidays can provide meaningful and memorable experiences that last a lifetime, while knowing your spending will be reinvested back into the Crown reserve,” Mr Kamper said.

Reflections is a Category One Crown Land Manager and certified social enterprise, and it reinvests all profit back into its 40 holiday parks and properties and the 47 community reserves in its care.

The uptick in Reflections bookings has been for cabins, with budget options available to families alongside premium accommodation. Reflections offers many dog-friendly cabin options and has accessible accommodation in many of its parks.

“We know that families are feeling the pinch with cost-of-living pressures and camping continues to tick the affordable holiday box: our budget-friendly options include unpowered camp sites to pitch your tent, powered sites for caravans or road vans, and standard cabins for families,” Mr Baker said.

'If you’re seeking something a little fancier, our deluxe villas and cabins, glamping tents and tiny homes will appeal.”
