CHAMPAGNE POMMERY RELEASES THE UNIQUE AND ULTRA-PREMIUM LIMITED EDITION, ‘POMMERY CUVÉE 150’, TO COMMEMORATE THE CREATION OF THE FIRST EVER BRUT IN 1874

Tide Communications 2 mins read

Paying homage to Madame Pommery, the creator of the original BRUT style in 1874, the renowned Champagne House is thrilled to release an exclusive and limited-edition bottle of Pommery Cuvée 150 Blanc de Blancs NV, available this year only.

The Pommery Cuvée 150 comes in a clear bottle, the first in the brand’s history, honouring the purity and elegance of Brut. In 1874, the esteemed first and second cellar masters of the Maison, Oliver Damas and Victor Lambert, crafted the inaugural Brut under the visionary guidance of Madame Pommery, fulfilling her dream of creating the perfect style of Champagne.

To celebrate the legacy of Madame Pommery, Clément Pierlot, current Cellar Master of the Maison and jeweler of Pommery Champagne, crafted the exceptional Cuvée 150.

The Cuvée 150 has been meticulously aged for more than six years, at a constant ten degrees beneath thirty meters of chalk. The Champagne is sourced from ten of Madame Pommery’s favourite villages, embodying the finest Chardonnays from; Avize, Cramant, Oger, Chouilly, Dizy, Trépail, Villers, Verzy and Verzenay, as well as the remarkable Clos Pompadour in Reims.

Enclosed within exquisite packaging lies a portrait of Madame Pommery rendered in a deep Prussian blue by artist Mathilde de l’Ecotais, using the ancient photographic technique known as cyanotype.

To honour this significant milestone, 10,000 bottles of the exclusive Pommery Cuvée 150 have been produced for global enjoyment, with no more than 800 allocated to Australia.

ON THE EYE:  The wine has a pale gold colour with light celadon hues.

ON THE NOSE: On the nose, this cuvée reveals extraordinary finesse. The first notes evoke toasted brioche, hawthorn blossom and lime blossom. As it opens, the wine becomes more complex, with citrus and spice aromas (kaffir lime, candied ginger).

ON THE PALATE: The palate echoes the finesse detected on the nose with a delicate, silky texture. The supple flavour gives way to an intense-tasting core in which tension, minerality and maturity respond in harmony. The finish has honey yet salty notes, perfectly balanced between the delicate bitterness of the chalk and the softness of a minimalist dosage.

TASTING MOMENTS: The great elegance of Cuvée 150 will pair well with sea bream sashimi, citrus fruit or grilled scallops with ginger. Its natural intensity could also be enhanced by sautéed chicken with kaffir lime.

The limited-edition Pommery Cuvée 150 is available exclusively at Vintage Cellars while stock lasts.

RRP: $329.00
