FILMING AND PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Parliamentary Inquiry into Nuclear Power Generation

Solutions for Climate Australia < 1 mins read

WHERE: Cliftons, 60 Margaret St, Sydney

WHEN: 8-9AM Thursday 12 December

WHAT: Community leaders and grassroots organisations will gather outside the Parliamentary Inquiry into Nuclear Power Generation in Australia to make clear that New South Wales does not need or want nuclear reactors. We will have banners and signs to make sure we are seen and heard. Our shared energy future is renewable, not radioactive!

Speakers will include:

Dave Sweeney, National Nuclear Campaigner, Australian Conservation Foundation

Elly Baxter, Senior Campaigner with Solutions for Climate said:

"We already get 40% of our electricity from renewable energy like wind and solar. NSW has a renewable energy roadmap that will see our state powered by renewable energy without the risk and waste of nuclear reactors.

Nuclear reactors are too slow to build, too dangerous to manage and too expensive to bring down our power bills. Nuclear reactors are a fantasy, not a solution to reduce climate pollution. Nuclear reactors are the most expensive way to generate electricity in Australia, why would they even be considered in a cost of living crisis?"

Local doctors, parents and campaigners advocating for WA's renewable energy future are speaking out against the scheme, saying that the community wants investment in safe and reliable renewable power, not this proposal to put risky nuclear reactors in the region. They are concerned about the risks of…
