MEDIA ALERT
Invitation to Attend:

2nd Annual Manly Spin-a-thon - Raising Funds for Youth Mental Health

Frenchs Forest, NSW - 4 December 2024: Proveda Foundation in collaboration with ANTHEMCYCLE and the Manly Business Chamber are thrilled to invite media to attend the 2nd annual Manly Spin-a-thon - an outdoor, stationary spin fundraising event aimed to build awareness and much-needed funds for youth mental health programs in Northern Sydney. Taking place on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 11am-2:15pm near 29 Sydney Road, the Spin-a-thon is back following a successful first year and registration to ride or sponsor a team is now open!

WHAT: Media are invited to attend to capture footage of the participants while they ride and interviews with the Spin-a-thon's special guest speakers are available. The participants, whether in a team or individually, will be on one of 27 stationary bikes set up by ANTHEMCYCLE, each accommodating four riders. Last year, the Spin-a-thon raised over $25,000 for Waves of Wellness (WOW) Foundation,, which funded four Surf Therapy Programs for local youth, and this year is aiming even higher by supporting five impactful, local grassroots charities dedicated to youth mental health: Empowering Parents in Crisis (EPIC), Harrison Riedel Foundation, KYDS Youth Counselling, WOW Foundation and Proveda Foundation. Whether experienced or not, riders will enjoy a Spin class at their own pace with upbeat music, led by experienced instructors. Riders have chosen to direct their donations to a specific charity or support all organisations involved. Proceeds from the day will be donated to each charity based on their rider support base.

Photography and filming are permitted. Interviews can be made available upon request.

WHO: Manly Warringah Sea Eagles’ Wayne Cousins, MC of the Spin-a-thon; Manly Ward councillor, Councillor Sarah Grattan will be saying some words; Alex Riedel, ambassador for Harrison Riedel Foundation and sister of Harrison will be speaking as well. The team from Proveda Foundation, ANTHEMCYCLE and Manly Business Chamber will also be in attendance.

WHEN: Saturday, 7 December 2024 from 11am-2:15pm. MC Wayne Cousins kicks off the event at 11am. Councillor Grattan speaks at 12:05pm. Alex Riedel speaks at 1:05pm. They are closing remarks at 2:05pm.

WHERE: Near ANTHEMCYLE on 29 Sydney Road, Manly, 2095, NSW. Nearest parking can be found at Whistler Street Carpark, 5A Market Ln. Additional parking can be found at Peninsula Carpark, 25 Wentworth Street or Manly National, 22 Central Avenue.

WHY: Media are invited to attend to capture footage, interview key speakers and participate themselves, if they wish. This is a unique opportunity to see the community unite to support youth mental health through a fun, inclusive event. Youth mental health is a massive issue with over 38% of Australians between the ages of 16–24 years old experiencing a 12-month mental health disorder.1 The Spin-a-thon hopes to build awareness about the issue and highlight a pressing need in the community for services to help youth who are in need.
